Code Of Conduct

Membership Rules

As a respected member of The Grey Council, we ask all members to please behave themselves while venturing in Middle Earth. You are a representative of this kinship and we ask you to behave responsibly. We do not like drama in this kin and expect all members to be mature. Below are the guidelines that the Officers expect all kin members to abide by.

1. Voice chat:
* First and foremost, The Grey Council uses the Ventrilo voice chat system for in-game communicaton. It is required to join the kin!  Mumble has been the best overall system we have tried for voice chat in-game.

2.  Be mindful of what you say:
* Please refrain from using excessive foul language, in any public channel or Mumble chat. The occasional F-bomb is ok...but constant F-bombs will not be tolerated. Members playing online do have kids and they could be watching and listening at any time. Always be mindfull what you say in the in-game chat, what might be funny to you can be offensive to others. Also things not to discuss in the Kin chat or on mumble, Politics, Religion, or Sexual Orientation.  We are gamers, we do not know each other so these three topics are off limits in the kin chat.  We do not discriminate  against, race, religion, political views or sexual orientation, but please keep these topics to yourself or in a private chat.

3. No drama!
* Respect all players; Kinsmen and non-Kinsmen alike. If you have a problem with a kinsman or another member of the game and you cannot resolve it between yourselves, contact an Officer or send an in-game email to the Leader, explaining the issue. As Leader of this kin, I will always get both sides of an issue and try to work it out.  If this issue is a non kinsman and a violation of LOTRO game policies, please report to Game Master (GM) via issue ticket.

4. Our webpage:
* I would like for you all  to sign in at least once a month on our web page. This allows us to track active players and keep tabs on characters not being played.

* We also place important information, forums and events on the webpage and all members should be checking these out. You can't complain about missing something if you keep tabs on this web page.

* As a member, you can place your own forum, place an event on calander that matchs up with your playing time schedule and lets others know what you intended to do and need help on. It's a valuable tool in this Kinship.

* And last about the web page, if you build a new character or import one into the kin, you need to log on the webpage and CLAIM that toon as yours. If not done within 24hrs, it defaults under the leader. As Leader, I will pass in Kinmail about toons that needing to be claimed. Failure to claim a character could resolute to getting that character banned from the webpage. So please claim your characters.

 5. Social window "Kinship":
* When you join the kinship, import a character into the kin or make a new one, you should always go to the Kinship window under the Social panel and click the arrow to the right of "status". This will cycle thru several windows, the window marked "Players Note" is the one you need. Click your character and place either "Main" or "Alt for............" in text window. This allows everyone that is online to know who is getting online. Several players have up to 8 characters, but the players know them by there "Main" characters name.

6. Recruiting:
* As a growing kin, we try to recruit players that will stick with the kin. Any member can direct a potential player to the webpage to fill out an application. Please direct players that you have been playing in-game with if they are looking to join. Random players asking to join, should be directed to an Officer for a chat before we send them to the webpage. Ask that they place the name of the character that recuited them in the kin under  "What can you do for the Kin?" question on the application.  I want to give credit to those that recruit new members.

 7. Asking for Help:
* Don't be afraid to ask for help. The officers like to help out within our own guidelines, so please ask for assistance when you need it. We will always try to find a way to make something happen for you. But be patient, we are sometimes busy ourselves with the game and can not stop to help immediately. There is no rush in this game, we will help you get organized with the right type of help you need, to complete what your doing.

If you decide to join us, then welcome to the kin, enjoy the game, it is always expanding and we are always learning new things. Please feel free to ask an Officer to join you in private tell/chat to talk about stuff or get advice. It's what we are here. Good luck.

Thanks and enjoy the game
